Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) Certification Received
After just two years as a member of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, Suncor has achieved silver award status in its Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) program.
PAR recognizes corporate performance in employment, community investment, business development and community engagement and is the only certification program of its kind, focusing on Aboriginal relations best practices. “Silver standing says that we have community support, and are committed to prosperity in Aboriginal communities,” says Jocelyn Kelln, Suncor Aboriginal Affairs Advisor based in Calgary. “More importantly, it has provided valuable insight into opportunities to improve and advance Aboriginal relations at Suncor.”
The PAR process is important because it gives us the tools to track our progress and a platform to talk about the work we are doing. It also steers us in the right direction to weave progressive Aboriginal relations into every aspect and level of our company, business behaviours and decision-making.
